Shortage of Sun

The shortage of sun means I am not getting my daily dose of vitamin D on my short walks. Looks like a vitamin supplement might be required to get through these cloudy days. The clouds moved in two days ago and brought three quarters of an inch of rain over the past two days. Not much for this desert. After the month of November with no rain, this little moisture is welcome. Hoping that this will have a positive impact on the wild flower blooms come spring time.

After the last post with the Hawaiian shirt and shorts, the new look for Wandrin Lloyd is long pants and a jacket over the Hawaiian shirt. To wear shorts and short sleeve shirts in this 50 degree weather, the alternate solution to staying warm could be a layer of blubber -- like a walrus. :-) Don't think that would be a good idea.

Instead of the usual blue skies of my previous posts of the desert, how about scenic clouds over the desert in between the gray skies of rain.

There may be snow atop Mount Lemmon, however there were low hanging clouds to hide the snow if there was any.

I like these cool and cloudy days. End up spending more time inside. That means an afternoon nap. Life is great.

  1. Sometimes change is good. For example, if all you had were clear blue skies for days, weeks and months on end...you'd get bored...so some days or weeks of clouds can be good. Plus they make for excellent photographs. And when the sun comes back you will welcome it in ways you might not have if you hadn't had the opportunity to miss it. Plus...the afternoon nap thing is genius.

  2. Yes, variety is the spice of life. I remember when I lived in Boulder that the odd grey day was welcome, however after two in a row people would start to get really antsy! In 11 years I don't remember more than 4 days in a row without seeing the sun.

But now I live in England, any amount of blue sky is welcome around these parts in the winter. We live in a beautiful part of the country, but once my youngest leaves home next year, we are going to have to give serious thought to moving somewhere with reliable sun, ate least during the cold, damp, grey season.

Ideally we would trade the use of a small RV for our apartment in the south of England for 2 or 3 months.

    Keep moving!

  3. Dawn, Martin, Jil, Sometimes I forget my own mantra that "Enjoying Life is a Matter of Balance."

Martin, When I stop this nomadic travel, that sticks and bricks will be some place Front Range Colorado. Probably not Boulder although it was an enjoyable experience while living there. No doubt we crossed paths at least once during your 11 year stay in Boulder. :-)
