Wandrin Blog

I already had a web site before I started full time RVing in 2001. At that time with a new focus in my life, I wanted a domain name that reflected the planned nomadic wandering. With various spellings and misspellings of "wandering" already taken, I registered www.wandrin.us. Over the past 12 years, stories of my life started as a monthly column. As blogging software became available, I had blogging software attached to the www.wandrin.us domain name. After further maturing of blogging software I went with the internet elephant -- Google -- and continued the "wandrin" theme in www.wandrinlloyd.blogspot.com.

Now that I have made a settled existence in Tucson, "wandrin" is no longer my life. Even though I am living a settled existence, I have not died. I will continue to share my life in words.

I had been mulling a blogspot name change, but what would that new name be. After more thoughts, there really is no reason to change things. The URL is nothing more than an address to my site on the net.

When I was traveling, I wrote frequently. With my settled existence of less than a month I have already proven that I don't have a lot to write about. Some of the lack of posts is a result of spending time getting settled in the new digs and sorting through stuff that had not seen light in years.

Now that I am mostly settled, it is time to do some Tucson exploring -- a local wandering. The hikes will continue, but those experiences will only be shared if I was accosted by a cactus or rattlesnake.

My blog posts always have been a diverse collection of stories, memories and experiences. No change there. The only blog change is that the point of view is a settled existence in Tucson.

  1. Sounds like a good plan. Of course, you could always add a byline in the header. The header name on the blog doesn't have to match the URL. I hope you continue as I enjoy reading your posts.

    1. There are "wandrin" masthead photos that have not appeared there. Once those are gone, new masthead photos will contain a new byline -- at this point unknown. Perhaps a changing byline with each photo.

  2. That is why I don't write much. Still working full time, it is not interesting or inspiring to write anything. I enjoy your blog.

  3. Lloyd I hope the Wandrin continues to be an appropriate title. Just because the wandering is in a smaller area does not mean it is not worthy of reporting. GrannyJ comes to mind who managed to write a wonderful blog for years from events and adventures in her little town of Prescott.
From my stand point it would be wonderful if you reported on every trail you find to walk in the area. My list for that area is already started and it would nice to keep adding to it from your actual on the ground reports. your perspective on things is a bit unique and makes your views on the area special to me at least. Mainly just have fun.

    1. Perhaps life now is "wondering" rather than "wandering".

I had been a long time follower of GrannyJ of Walking Prescott. A year or two before she died I had the opportunity to meet GrannyJ at a coffee place when I passed through Prescott. It was a three hour visit that went quickly. Her one time job as a reporter for a Chicago newspaper was quite obvious. Of course, the next day her blog included her visit with Wandrin Lloyd. I was flattered.

Everyone has a story and that was GrannyJ's approach. Get the story. I wish that I was so talented.

      Having fun is a priority.

    1. I will continue to write. Seems the fingers have to create letters/words/paragraphs.

Looking forward to meeting up and a chat and catch up on our lives.

  5. How about "Wandrin No More,? or "Wandered Out?"

    1. Wandering will continue. The only difference will be that future wandering will not be with a truck and fifth wheel. Soon there will be a blog post with the plans for future travels -- wandering.
