Moving Stuff

Once I had become owner of Old Yeller, it was time to move my stuff from Wandrin Wagon. My plan was to take about a week to complete the move. Reality got in the way of the plan when a buyer for Wandrin Wagon called in the middle of the move on day one. And he wanted to take possession of the trailer that weekend.

Finding that unique individual purchasing my unusually designed trailer, I gave up on the week long move and three days later Wandrin Wagon stuff was transferred to Old Yeller -- and the shed. The shed was piled high with boxes of stuff. Much of that stuff hadn't seen light in years. Seems I didn't understand about the fuel costs of towing extra ballast.

In the days since last weekend, I have been tackling those boxes of stuff. My ancestry includes a long line of savers. Never know when you might need something. The process is not easy as I decide what to keep and what to donate or throw away. I'm hoping that I can make the task last at least a month. Knowing my approach to such a project, it will probably take less than two weeks.

The move is history. Now it is time to jettison stuff.

  1. "Much of that stuff hadn't seen light in years." The very reason I go through everything each winter and if it has not been used in the last two years, out it goes. All the important family memory stuff has long before gone to my son to handle. But each year I find another thing or three I did not remember having! I think there is no end to the cleaning out for a full time rver.

    1. It seems I was less motivated than you were in keeping the ballast down. Hope I can do better in the future. I don't want to fill up the shed.

  2. It doesn't seem enough to get rid of the old stuff..... unless of course you never add to the stash with new stuff. LOL And the vicious circle goes round and round.

    1. I certainly hope I am better about saving stuff in the future. Or better yet I should have an annual stuff jettison routine -- like Barney (above comment).

  3. Well, I don't know about that. Now you have more room for said stuff.

    1. There may be room now, but I really wonder why I was dragging it around for all these years.

  4. Aaah, but when the purge is complete you will feel so much better. Until, you need the thing you got rid of because you thought you'd never have a use for it. :-) Enjoy your new digs.

    1. I know that day will come when I will recall that I had jettisoned something that I will have to repurchase. It's all about doing my share to keep the economy going.

  5. So the trailer is gone. It seems everything happened so fast, you must be reeling.

I sold a condo once - first people to see it bought it, they were getting married and wanted it in two weeks. It was unbelievable, but we did it. Everything went into storage, though, and I headed north, to have it sent up later. It was a really weird feeling for a while; I didn't have time to think about things and get used to the quick change. Hopefully you are more adaptable now than I was then. :)

    1. Between the pain of using muscles for the move and the stress on the brain, there were nights where I slept poorly. Things are looking up ten days later after I began the move. I've already managed to empty and sort a few of those boxes in the shed.
