Gila Monster

Sighting a Gila monster on my hike today made this hike extra special.

Even better I was able to get a photo of the guy as he scurried away. In all the years of hiking in Arizona, I have seen six Gila monsters. Only two times have I been able to get a photo. This photo was the second time.

Perhaps I will get lucky again on the next hike.

  1. Diana and I saw one through the bushes a couple weeks ago. It was such a thrill. Now I have to see one in the open.

  4. In all my 38 years of travel, I've only seen one---last year---it sat still under my step till I photographed it. Wonder if they are considered endangered?
