Moose Sighting

Didn't have to go searching for the moose. They came to the campground. Looked out my window after breakfast this morning to see two moose browsing on the greens. Grabbed the camera and headed out to snap a few photos.

Those stubs of the antlers will grow to resemble the antlers on the statue in the photograph on yesterday's post.

  1. If you are not used to seeing these animals - they are very impressive- Last summer in rural Maine I was jogging on a backroad and looked a bit beside the road and came by a HUGE moose with her calf- It was actually a little scary- I just was not used to seeing an animal this size- Enjoy your travels.

  2. Also, be on the lookout for a flying squirrel wearing a funny leather aviator's cap. They're known to travel together!

  3. That's so cool! You must have been pretty excited to see them right outside. I love that stuff! I saw moose out a car window in Alaska a long time ago, but not yet on my RV travels. Something to look forward to! :)

  4. Walden Creek, They are big. Remember the first time I saw them in Alaska as they were headed away from me. My first identification was "horses". Not. Hey. It was the first time I'd seen the guys in the wild.

Ben, Plenty of squirrels. However, didn't spot any with a cap. I'll keep my eyes open.

Me and..., When parked in Theodore Roosevelt NP, the buffalo were surrounding the rig. Fortunately they didn't try to scratch themselves on my trailer. That might have caused motion sickness. :-)

  5. I am not sure what it is exactly about moose that makes them both appealing and impressive. The up close facil shot you got is awesome, and I appreciated the info about the antlers as I did wonder. t too have heard about how big they are upclose. My husband, who is originally from the metro NY area, as am I, tells a very funny story about his first encounter a with a very large moose in the dark while on guard duty in Alaska, needless to say, the moose won, lol.
